The Final Draft
Noise pollution has become one of environment contamination factors in this age. Noise can be defined as an unwanted or undesired sound. Most people think that only air pollution , water pollution and soil pollution are dangerous , but noise pollution is dangerous as well.In this age , the age of modern technology , no one can escape from noise . Noise pollution has many causes and harmful effects , so serious steps must be taken to control it.
Of the causes of noise pollution , there are traffic , construction work , factories and loudspeakers . Traffic noise is the biggest source of noise pollution in Egypt . With the ever-increasing number of vehicles on road , the sound caused by their exhaust system and their horns are the chief reason for noise pollution . Also the machines used in the construction of roads and buildings- like drills , pavement breakers , bulldozers and loaders- cause noise pollution . As well as , factories use machines with too much noise . Using loudspeakers in public places also causes noise pollution.
Noise pollution has harmful effecs on the physiological and psychological health of human beings . On the one hand , physiological effects represent into hearing impairment , a rise in blood pressure as a result of constricting the arteries , disrupting the blood flow and the increase of the heart rate . On the other hand , psychological effects represent into sleep disturbance which leads to a person's feeling of annoyance , discomfort and tiredness ,
lack of concentration which leads to a decrease in the efficiency in working and stress which makes people more irritable and arouses the violent behaviour.
In order to control noise pollution , a number of measures should be taken . Silencing devices can be used in engines and industrial machines . Also one should wear earplugs in places with too much noise . There must be a law to control using horns and loudspeakers in public places. As well as , spreading awareness among people about the effects and causes of noise pollution can contribute to controlling it . Moreover, planting trees help in absorbing noise . Furthermore, factories should be located away from the residential areas.
Finally, it is clear that noise pollution has harmful effects on man and that no one can escape from noise in modern life . So both government and individuals must take their measures to control noise pollution in order to live peacefully and enjoy peace of mind.
